Description
The Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance is inviting Letters of Intent for the 2027 Collaborative Research Development Grant in partnership with Microsoft AI for Good Lab to support innovative ovarian cancer research projects that integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches. The grant focuses on ovarian cancer and related gynecologic cancers research projects that incorporate artificial intelligence and/or machine learning as a central component, with strong preference for innovative and high-impact work in screening and early detection, etiology and prevention, therapeutics, cancer biology and genetics, as well as research in health services, quality of life, and epidemiology, while encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and effective use of Microsoft Azure cloud computing credits. This funding opportunity is designed to support collaborative teams of researchers working within a single institution or across multiple institutions. Each team must designate a Principal Investigator, and all lead investigators must hold full-time faculty or equivalent appointments at accredited academic or non-profit research institutions. At least one key investigator must be a physician with expertise in ovarian cancer or related gynecologic cancers. International applicants and collaborations are welcome. The proposed projects must demonstrate clear and direct relevance to ovarian cancer, including related gynecologic cancers, and must feature a clearly defined and substantive artificial intelligence or machine learning component at the core of the research. The CRDG-AI grant specifically requires partnership with Microsoft AI for Good Lab, and funded investigators will receive in-kind Azure computing credits in addition to financial support. The grant provides up to $300,000 USD annually for three years, totaling $900,000 USD, awarded to the institution of the Principal Investigator. The grants will begin on January 1, 2027, and recipients will be required to submit activation deliverables and annual narrative and financial progress reports. Projects are expected to result in peer-reviewed publications, and all resulting work must acknowledge support from OCRA. Successful applicants will enter into a direct contract with Microsoft for the provision of Azure credits. Eligible institutions include accredited academic institutions and non-profit research entities such as research hospitals, institutes, and recognized scientific research facilities. For-profit entities, consulting companies, and non-research organizations are not eligible. An individual may serve as Principal Investigator on only one Letter of Intent per grant cycle and may hold only one active OCRA grant at a time.
