Description The Land Acquisition Fund supports local conservation organisations by providing financial assistance to secure threatened natural areas, establish safe reserves, and connect habitats that are vital for the survival of vulnerable and endangered species. The main objective of the fund is to provide resources to local NGOs and CSOs to acquire threatened nature, create protected reserves, and enhance habitat connectivity for vulnerable and endangered species, while ensuring that projects lead to tangible conservation outcomes and actively involve local communities in the conservation and management of the land. The proposed project must align closely with the core objective of the Land Acquisition Fund and demonstrate a direct contribution to measurable conservation results through land acquisition or long-term protection of ecologically significant areas. Projects are expected to focus on safeguarding biodiversity and ensuring long-term conservation impact rather than short-term activities. To qualify for support, organisations must hold a bank account in their own name in the country where they are registered or where the project activities will take place. In addition, applicants are required to have proven experience in managing conservation areas, including strong project management practices, sound financial management systems, and reliable financial control mechanisms. Eligible applicants may submit multiple proposals; however, organisations are generally awarded a maximum of one project per funding call, with the total grant amount capped at 100,000 euros per grantee. Eligible applicants must be locally registered non-profit organisations, non-governmental organisations, or civil society organisations operating in Africa, Asia, Latin America, or the Pacific. The applicant organisation must take full responsibility for the preparation and implementation of the project and demonstrate the institutional capacity required to manage conservation initiatives effectively.
