Description
Are you aged 18-30 and creating positive change for people, society and the planet? Apply for the Young Health Programme and attend the One Young World Summit Cape Town. The fellowship focuses on advancing health equity by acting early to prevent non-communicable diseases among young people or supporting those living with rare diseases, taking action on climate and nature by addressing the harmful effects of climate change on the health and well-being of young people and building health systems resilience by contributing to stronger health systems that prioritise early intervention and collaborative solutions to address current and future health challenges. The programme supports young advocates who are leading organisations that work to improve the health and well-being of young people. Selected fellows will gain access to global networks, professional development opportunities, and financial support to implement projects that address pressing health challenges faced by youth in underserved communities. Each selected fellow will receive a grant of either USD 10,000 or USD 50,000 to implement a project aligned with one of the fellowship’s focus areas. The USD 50,000 grant is awarded to fellows selected as the Lead2030 winner for Sustainable Development Goal. Projects must run for a period of six to twelve months, begin after October 2026, and be completed by December 2027. Organisations applying for the USD 10,000 grant must have reported an annual income of more than USD 10,000 and less than USD 1,000,000 in the last financial year, while those applying for the USD 50,000 grant must have reported an income of more than USD 100,000 and less than USD 2,000,000. They must also be funding-ready and able to provide documentation verifying their organisation’s charitable status, governance, and financial position through the Charities Aid Foundation verification process. Projects under the fellowship must focus on preventing non-communicable diseases by targeting behavioural risk factors such as tobacco use, physical inactivity, harmful alcohol consumption, unhealthy diets, and air pollution. They may also support young people with rare diseases, address health impacts of climate and nature challenges, or advocate for stronger and more equitable youth-focused health systems. Projects promoting political or religious views, providing medical treatments or medicines, funding other organisations, or lasting longer than twelve months are not eligible for funding. To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old, demonstrate proficiency in English, and be able to attend the One Young World Summit in person in November 2026. Nationals of all countries are eligible to apply. Applicants must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organisations that have been operational for at least three full years and are working in underserved communities.
