Description
The Community-Centered Connectivity (CCC) Grant Program by the Internet Society Foundation supports organizations that expand Internet access and adoption in communities facing digital exclusion. The program aims to support connectivity solutions that address the key barriers to meaningful Internet access, including availability, affordability, and adoption, while increasing digital literacy and strengthening local capacity to manage and sustain connectivity initiatives, fostering collaborative partnerships with communities and stakeholders, and enhancing the ability of organizations to scale their impact. The Community-Centered Connectivity Grant Program, led by the Internet Society Foundation, focuses on empowering communities to design and implement their own connectivity solutions. These solutions are developed for, with, or by local communities, ensuring that they are tailored to specific needs and conditions rather than imposed externally. This approach is particularly relevant in areas where traditional connectivity models have proven ineffective or unfeasible. Through its three funding tracks, the program supports organizations at different stages of capacity and experience. The Catalyst Track provides funding of up to USD 50,000 for projects lasting up to 12 months, aimed at building new connectivity solutions or expanding existing ones within a community. The Scaling Track offers up to USD 200,000 for projects of up to 18 months that focus on deploying proven solutions across multiple communities. The Systems Track, which is invitation-only, provides funding above USD 200,000 for large-scale replication of successful models at regional or multi-country levels over a period of up to 24 months. The program welcomes applications from legally registered non-profit organizations and social enterprises that have the capacity to manage funds and implement connectivity projects effectively. Applicants must demonstrate relevant experience, technical expertise, and strong support from the communities they intend to serve. While the program is open to a wide range of applicants, preference is given to organizations working with refugees and displaced populations, Indigenous communities, and women and girls. Eligibility requirements vary by funding track, with the Catalyst Track favoring organizations that have previously managed grants over USD 20,000, and the Scaling Track requiring a proven record of managing grants of at least USD 50,000. The Systems Track remains accessible only to organizations invited by the Internet Society Foundation.
