Title
Description
The Oral Health International Foundation provides financial grants to support dental projects that improve access to oral health services and bring healthier smiles to communities in need around the world. The Foundation focuses on supporting specific dental care needs including small and large instruments required for treatment, disposable medical equipment and supplies used in clinical settings, instrumental rental necessary for procedures, and laboratory fees associated with dental services. Established in 1986, the Oral Health International Foundation was created to provide financial assistance to communities and individuals who lack adequate access to dental care. Through its grant programs, the Foundation helps organizations and practitioners improve the availability and quality of oral health services. Over the years, the Foundation has funded more than 850 grants worldwide, distributing a total of $6,000,000 to support dental initiatives that directly benefit patients and underserved communities. These grants play an important role in strengthening dental care programs by enabling providers to obtain essential instruments, equipment, and laboratory services required for treatment. By supporting these practical and treatment-oriented needs, the Foundation helps improve patient outcomes and expand the reach of oral health services in areas where resources are limited. While the Foundation actively supports equipment, supplies, and lab-related expenses, it maintains clear boundaries on what it does not fund. The program does not provide support for university or institutional costs, essays, or research activities. Salaries and travel-related expenses are also excluded from funding, along with questionnaires, surveys, and patient or dental literature such as websites, brochures, and videos. In addition, the Foundation does not fund capital projects, insurance, computers or IT support, land or building purchases, or social services that are not related to dental care. Programs that fall under government responsibility and are already supported through tax revenues are not eligible for support. The Foundation also does not provide funding for volunteer support items such as t-shirts, food, or accommodations, fundraising events including dinners or ticket purchases, advertising or promotional activities, or contributions to the general funds of other organizations. Through its targeted funding approach, the Oral Health International Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact by supporting practical dental care needs that directly benefit patients and help improve oral health services worldwide.
